Workshop - Beyond Objectification
The workshop is based on re-looking at objects from our families via a new lens - as artefacts of socio-cultural-historical-economic storytelling significance. Materials will be analysed as timekeepers; as historians of the house and as silent witnesses to (world) events. Using the first person narrative, each workshop member will use words and images, props and artefacts to weave a personal family narrative via an object of their choice from their homes. The mediums to be  explored for expression of the narrative can be diverse: from postcards to accordions; family trees to collages; journals to maps for example.

What to expect from this Workshop
Create material memory for the continuum of family narratives through image and words. Archive, over 2 hours, these personal histories to last beyond human memory.

Design Thinking Workshop for High School Students
THINKING LIKE A DESIGNER: understanding aspirations to solve everyday problems in a “designerly” way. What differentiates a designer from a non designer? To understand this we have to first understand what designers do! Everything we have around us – our environments, clothes, furniture, machines, communication systems, even much of our food – has been designed. The quality of that design effort therefore profoundly affects our quality of life. The ability of designers to produce efficient, effective, imaginative and stimulating designs is therefore important to all of us. Although design is usually associated with novelty and originality, most run-of-the-mill designing is actually based on making variations on previous designs.

Materials to keep handy: Scissors, A4 paper 12 sheets, Card board from packaging, Glue, Colour markers, Thick cotton/nylon string

Design Leadership: A Catalyst for Change
In a world where society is changing rapidly, novelties commoditize instantly and markets are no longer segmented in familiar ways, opportunities are driven by meaningful and relevant ideas nurtured through company systems into successful commercialization. Companies, often large and complex, recognize the role of creativity and design as an opportunity to advance innovation and drive change into the future. Learn how design can create positive change; and how to navigate the challenges that we all face as strategists, creative professionals, and change-makers, as we work to drive innovation and progress…by effective design leadership.

Beyond function is emotion and meaning.
Cars have, for the most part, been emotional purchases. What are the emotions that are triggered by car purchase and ownership and how do we as designers satiate those emotional needs of customers.
The challenge facing the automotive industry is climate change and our response to it. Customers will be asking us about how meaningful our contribution is towards saving earth for future generations.

A new paradigm where art meets design : 18 years of Srishti-Interim and the future of design education.
In 2004  60 students from art and design colleges from Africa (Senegal), Europe (France), UK and Asia (India) came to Srishti and in a 3 week long workshop on the Future of Education  20 years hence came up with their vison of interdisciplinary working between art, design, science and technology. Responsible Design: Thinking Beyond Technology, Business, People & Environment
The talk aims to expand the horizon of understanding that underlies the design and management of complex urban socio-technical systems including buildings, communities, critical infrastructure, governance, and cities. Particularly, my talk provides several examples drawn from my experiences of living and working in Denmark, Singapore, and India. Some key takeaway messages for audiences include - a definition of "responsible design-thinking", and its exemplification through real-life illustrations.

The discussion revolves around several methods (e.g. observing CPS in the wild) and practical frameworks through which design professionals can collaboratively develop both aptitude and attitude required to identify challenges (e.g. climate-change, urbanization, sustainability, digitalization), opportunities (e.g. liveability, resiliency, happiness, health) required to understand and address the complexities (e.g. governance, implementation) beyond technical and business feasibility for the benefit of the environment and people in the design of urban socio-technical systems.

Design in Motion: Let’s look at motion from the lens of what it is not and what does it have to do with a brand? For starters, just like a brand, it is not stagnant, dull, boring, lifeless or dead.
